ALBAWABA - Libyan eastern authorities confirmed in a statement via Facebook that they have closed all oil fields in the region and announced banning exports.

According to the Libyan government, the closure of oil fields was in response to the Tripoli government's announcement to replace the leadership of the central bank.

The eastern authorities in the country revealed that force majeure applies to all oil fields, stations and facilities.

The announcement is after a dispute over the leadership of the central bank that continued between the two Libyan governments for over a week, deepening political divisions and threatening a UN-brokered peace deal.

As the internationally recognized government in the west of the country seeks to replace the governor "Siddiq al-Kabir," who has refused to step down, local media reported that a government delegation entered the bank’s offices to take charge.
