The Lipton tea bag factory, one of the largest manufacturing companies in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, has been awarded the OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management Standard by SGS, the Swiss based quality and standards company, stated a press release.
The OHSAS Standard complements the ISO9001 and 14001 International Quality and Environmental Certifications which were awarded to the Lipton tea bag factory last year, making it one of the first Unilever companies globally to achieve all three awards. The Lipton factory now operates using these three standards under the umbrella of its Integrated Management System.
When it was first opened in 1998, the Lipton tea bag factory in Jebel Ali produced 4000 tons of Lipton Yellow Label Tea brand. As a strategic sourcing site for the beverage business of Unilever, the Lipton parent company, production now lies at approximately 14 million tea bags per day, destined for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and worldwide markets. — (menareport.com
