ALBAWABA - A minister in Israel threatened Wednesday to assassinate Houthi President Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on June 24 to target the leader of the Houthi militia in Yemen, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi will 'pay the price':
In remarks carried by Hebrew media outlets, Katz threatened, "The score is settled with the Houthis, and they will pay the price." He added, "If their leader falls within our sights, we will eliminate him."

A supporter of Yemen's Huthis holds a picture of their leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on March 27, 2026.
It is worth mentioning that Israel and the Houthi militia have been engaged in open conflict since the start of the October 2023 war when the Yemeni group launched missiles towards Tel Aviv in response to aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Additionally, in December 2024, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen warned of assassinating the Houthi leader, saying he would meet the same fate as Yahya Sinwar and Hassan Nasrallah if he continued his actions.
On September 19 of last year, Katz escalated the threats following an airstrike on Sana'a, writing on the X platform: "Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, your turn will come. You will be sent to meet the rest of your government," vowing to raise the Israeli flag over Sana'a instead of the Houthi banner.
