Since daily flights began between Casablanca and Frankfurt in March 2004, Lufthansa has been making inroad into the Moroccan market, according to the Moroccan economics newspaper, L'economiste. Lufthansa has already increased the number of its passengers by 50% compared to the same period last year. Its market share has now been doubled to about 4%. Lufthansa attribute their growing to success to flexibility in increasing their schedule and routes.
At the same time, the company has taken a number of cost cutting measures in Morocco, increasing freezing of salaries. Morocco is considered an important growth area for the company as Morocco's tourism sector hopes to receive considerable new investment in the coming years and its economy grows.
