Memon Group, a US$ 5 billion business conglomerate, has awarded an AED 31 million contract to Majed Hilal Contracting (MHC) for the construction of Champions Tower I in Dubai Sports City (DSC). The contract for the groups’ first project in the UAE, Champions Tower I, a freehold residential tower, was awarded following the handover of a 31,484 square feet plot by DSC authorities and the subsequent completion of the soil investigation of the plot. The contract was signed by Ahmed Sattar, Executive Director, Memon Group and Majed Al Suwaidi, Chairman, Majed Hilal Contracting LLC in the presence of Ahmed Shaikhani, Managing Director, Memon Group and Rahmathullah Khan, CEO & Partner, Majed Hilal Contracting LLC.

Under the terms of the contract, Majed Hilal Contracting will be responsible for the construction of the entire project and is bringing its extensive expertise and experience with similar projects of this magnitude in the UAE to ensure completion of the tower in early 2008. MHC is expected to start the initial foundation work including excavation and shoring in early March. The company joins an established list of industry professionals contracted to work on Champions Tower I including the Dubai Architectural Research Team International (DARTIN), who have been appointed design and project management consultants.

“Champions Tower I is our first project in the region and we were among the first to buy into the Dubai Sports City concept, and now we are among the first to start construction of projects,” said Ahmed Shaikhani. “We strongly believe in delivering a quality offering on time to investors in Champions Tower I and after a thorough review of tenders received from leading players in the industry, we decided to award the construction contract to Majed Hilal Contracting, given their expertise and excellence in this domain.”

Majed Hilal Contracting, established in 1990, is a leading contracting company based in the UAE. The company offers a complete range of construction services and has the ability to complete various projects including high-rise buildings, mosques, villas, schools and public residences in addition to shopping centres and turnkey projects as per the requirement of its clients.

Rahmathullah Khan, Majed Hilal Contracting, said, “We are pleased to win the contract to construct the Champions Tower I in Dubai Sports City. We were keen on working with the Memon Group as they have a far-sighted vision of development and growth in the region. The Champions Tower I in particular represents a unique architectural concept and we are glad to be entrusted with the task of constructing this tower. We firmly believe that our exceptional track record in constructing several landmark properties will stand us in good stead to complete the tower on schedule.”

Champions Tower I, which has already been sold out, is a 14-storey tower offering a total of 130 units with the choice of studios, one, two, and three bedroom apartments, and a penthouse, each with its own magnificent views and fine architecture. Located within Dubai Sports City, the tower offers an unparalleled range of activities for the family by benefiting from the secure and gated community of DSC that will feature schools, parks, mosques, sports, entertainment and recreation facilities. The tower offers its residents facilities including a large swimming pool, spa, sauna and Jacuzzi, fully equipped state-of-the-art gymnasiums, two-level basement parking, 24-hour security, indoor games room, 3 high-speed elevators and super connectivity through Broadband.

“A great deal of planning and research has gone into every aspect of design of the Champions Tower I and we are certain that residents of the tower will enjoy a level of luxury and comfort that they would not have experienced before. We do not have any doubt that Majid Hilal Contracting will set a new benchmark with the construction of Champions Tower I and we will offer them our total support throughout,” concluded Shaikhani.
