ALBAWABA - The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, reported that Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook, is working on developing a new artificial intelligence system aimed to match the prowess of OpenAI's most advanced model. OpenAI is a non-profit organization focused on AI research.
The newspaper, in its latest issue, stated that Meta Platforms aims to have the new AI model ready by the next year. It also mentioned that this AI model is expected to be several times more powerful than its commercial counterpart known as "Lama 2."
"Lama 2" is a substantial language model for artificial intelligence based on the open-source system that Meta launched in July.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the planned system, which is expected to undergo further changes, will assist other companies in building services that generate advanced text, analytics, and other outputs.
The newspaper further stated in its report that Meta anticipates commencing training on the new AI system, known as the Large Language Model, in early 2024.
Meta has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment on the report.
