Meta stated that its new AI video tool, named ‘Meta Movie Gen,’ is a suite of AI models that shows how users can use simple text inputs to produce custom videos and sounds, edit existing videos, and transform personal images into unique videos.
The tool aims to create videos and is still being tested by the company. This recent partnership with Blumhouse focuses on testing the tool, which will allow filmmakers to create videos with sound from short prompts or images next year.
Jason Blum, Blumhouse founder, said: “These are going to be powerful tools for directors, and it's important to engage the creative industry in their development to make sure they're best suited for the job."

It is worth noting that Blumhouse selected some of the top elite directors to test the new tool, including Oscar-winner Casey Affleck and Anish Chaganty, director of the film 'Searching.' The chosen directors worked on creating videos that could be stitched into longer sequences, according to the company.
As stated by Meta, the language models used in Movie Gen are based on huge databases, which facilitate the easy generation of text, image, and audio content. The tool can create videos from written text and images, and it also allows for the editing of existing videos.
It is worth mentioning that Movie Gen is Meta's third image generation tool, following two previous prototypes launched in 2022 and 2023. However, these AI tools raise concerns about intellectual property rights among actors and video game developers in Hollywood.
