Steel production in the Middle East remained steady at an estimated 1.1 million metric tons for October, reported the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI). Overall, production in the region is up 10.1 percent year-to-date (YTD).
Production in Saudi Arabia reached 3.3 million metric tons in the first 10 months of 2003, a 9.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2002.
World crude steel production for the 63 countries reporting to IISI stood at an estimated 81.7 million metric tons in October. Global production increased by 5.7 percent compared to October 2002 and by seven percent YTD. — (menareport.com)
