Mohammed bin Rashid inaugurates phase 2 of solar park in Dubai

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inaugurated the phase 2 of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Part at Seih Al Dahal in Dubai.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, accompanied Sheikh Mohammed.

The AED 1.5 billion solar plant generates 200 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 50,000 household and reduces Dubai’s carbon emission by over 200,000 tones.

Sheikh Mohammed also toured the sideline exhibition that displays DEWA’s projects and initiatives in the field of clean energy since 2011. Sheikh Mohammed congratulated DEWA staff and partners on the implementation of the phase 2 and what has been achieved in a record time. He also deemed the event as a national achievement accomplished by the country.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and MD of DEWA welcomed Sheikh Mohammed’s long-term vision for clean energy, which directly contributes to the efforts aiming to secure community happiness and welfare.

Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, FNC Speaker, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development; Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Matar Humaid Al Tayer,Chairman of the Board of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority; Dhahi Khalfan Tamim,Deputy Chief of Dubai Police and Public Security; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman Director General of Dubai Protocol Department and a host of senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
