A recently published monetary report shows that money transfers from Moroccan expatriate workers from abroad increased to 36 billion Moroccan dirhams ($3.3 billion) in 2001, a 57 percent increase compared with 2000, reported Al-Hayat . The report attributed the money transfer growth to declining Moroccan currency exchange rates and the European currency shift. The report shows that thousands of Moroccans converted their euro currency funds into Moroccan dirhams last year. — (menareport.com)
