Moroccan exports of textile products to the European Union (EU) went down by 16% in the Q1 of 2005, said the Moroccan Minister of Industry, Trade and Economy Upgrading. According to MAP, Salaheddine Mezouar noted that this sector, which represents 43% of the kingdom's industrial exports, faces several problems that block its competitiveness.

In order to counter this situation, he said, Morocco has managed to lure investments worth Euro 227 million thanks to three large-scale projects in the field of textile.
