Morocco will dig at least 8 oil wells this year, with other prospecting to come during the coming years, said head of the national office of hydrocarbons and mining (ONHYM), Amina Benkhadra.

“Five onland wells, including 4 by the Canadian firm ‘Cabre’ and one by Morocco’s SAMIR, and 3 others offshore are planned this year, she told the French Arab Gaz and Oil monthly.

The three offshore wells will be dug in the Atlantic areas of Ras Tafelney, Cap Draa and Rimella, she conveyed, adding these zones are “very interesting”.

“We are satisfied to have reached the prospecting phase but we are aware of the risks, so we do it cautiously,” she said. (menareport.com)
