Matsushita Electric Industrial Company, manufacturer of the appliance brand National, has recently launched its new split air conditioner (AC) model, in keeping with the increasing demand for air-conditioners in the Gulf market. The new model includes the Catechin air-purifying filter.

“Current market trends indicate that the demand for air-conditioners in the Middle East has remained stable in the last few years. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE) however, the market for air-conditioners is expected to grow by three to five percent annually in the next three years, until 2005,” Product Manager of Panasonic Marketing Middle East, H. Matsukawa.

“The Middle East market size for window and split AC models is estimated to be 150,000 units. This tremendous potential has led the brand National to target a drastic increase in sales this year, of a phenomenal 68 percent over the figures for the year 2000,” added Matsukawa. The new Split AC model being introduced is particularly suited to the year-round heat in the Gulf region where the emphasis is on securing the most energy efficient cooling system.

The new line-up includes the models that are floor or ceiling dual mountable types. The split air conditioners utilize an advanced design that minimizes noise from the indoor unit. The Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and cooling capacity in the window-mounted unit is much higher than previous models. This is due to major improvement in key parts such as evaporator and condenser that optimize air-flow resulting in super-high EER.
