In the wake of the rising potential for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology in the regional market, the Dubai-based integrated technology solutions major, Netlink, has announced that it will officially unveil its new RFID division, Netlink RFID, at a one-day comprehensive seminar on the benefits of radio frequency technology on 21st March 2005 at Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai.

Announcing the details of the new division and the seminar, Mr. Puneet Singh, General Manager, Netlink RFID, said: “Netlink has identified RFID solutions as a key focus area of its business. We believe that there is tremendous latent potential for an increase in adopting RFID technology in the Middle East market, particularly in business segments like hospitality, transportation, logistics, retail industry and education.”

Mr. Singh said the seminar has been designed to communicate to the Middle East market the benefits of RFID technology in an age of increased competitiveness where real-time tracking of business processes are an imperative.

“World over, RFID has created a stir in the market with its cutting-edge benefits to businesses. The Middle East market is waking up to this new technology and in the course of the next few years, we are confident that the technology will be widely adopted in the regional market across an array of business segments,” he added.

Mr. Singh said the new division will cater to the RFID market in the Middle East and India, which will provide an array of enterprise visibility solutions using standard Wi-Fi wireless networks as an infrastructure.

“RFID is a revolutionary technology which allows tracking of moving and non-moving assets with the help of RFID tags. It is one of the most rapidly growing segments in today’s automatic identification and data capture industry,” Mr. Singh said.

RFID uses radio waves to automatically identify people or assets and is expected to compete with the conventional bar coding technology used by businesses in their logistics operations and supply chain mechanisms.

The Netlink RFID seminar will have global experts on the technology, including partners of the Dubai-based company making presentations on the potential of the new technology. The experts who will highlight the benefits of the technology include Mr. Val Lanzieri, President and CEO of Scanpak Inc., Mr. Graham Porter, Marketing Director, Sun Microsystems, Mr. Willy Steiger, Senior Account Manager, Scanpak Europe, Middle East and Africa and Mr. Sanjeev Khanna, General Manager – Technology, Netlink rfid.

“The objective of the seminar is to educate the regional market on RFID technology. The regional market is gradually warming up to RFID technology and the seminar is part of our endeavour to add value to this awareness,” Mr. Singh said.
