ALBAWABA – Neuralink, the American neurotechnology company founded by Elon Musk and known for developing implantable brain–computer interfaces, announced the successful implantation of a chip designed to allow paralyzed patients to use digital devices by using their thoughts only. The chip is performing well after being experimented on a patient for the second time.
Neuralink tested the new chip on two patients
Neuralink said it has successfully tested the new chip on two patients. The first patient, Noland Arbaugh, experienced some issues after the implantation in January 2024. While the second, Alex, has not reported any medical problems.
The company said yesterday it followed certain measures while performing the implantation like reducing brain movement and the gap between the implant and the brain surface to prevent medical problems and issues.

Neuralink is currently testing the new chip as it looks forward helping people with spinal cord injuries precisely.
It is worth noting that the first patient, Arbaugh, was able to play video games, surf the internet, post on social media platforms, and move the cursor on his laptop after the chip’s implantation. On the other hand, the second patient, Alex, was able to play video games and design 3D objects.
Musk’s vision
Elon Musk, the businessman and investor, believes that users will be able to use Neuralink’s device by using their own thoughts only, like controlling Optimus, a robot developed by Tesla.
