British born Tony Hart has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), in the Arabian Gulf. He takes up the post on August 1. Hart succeeds fellow-Brit Andrew Hearn who retires at the end of July after serving 11 years as Batelco's Chief Executive.
Batelco is a monopoly info-communications operator that was privatized in 1981. Its shareholders include the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, leading financial and commercial organizations and Bahrain and Gull Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens.
