Canada’s Nexen Inc. reported that the Al-Mawarid-1 exploration well on Block 59 in Yemen has concluded drilling. The well reached a total depth of 14,170 feet without encountering significant hydrocarbons and has been plugged and abandoned.
"Al-Mawarid was our first well in this part of Yemen and it greatly enhances our understanding of the stratigraphy in this frontier area," said Charlie Fischer, Nexen's president and chief executive officer. "The results of this well will assist in directing our future exploration program on the Northern Blocks."
Nexen Inc. is an independent, global energy and chemicals company.
