After the recent leaks of the documents for a WhatsApp desktop client, the WhatsApp desktop app is now officially out and available for download on both Windows and Mac platforms.
The app works just like WhatsApp web, and setting it up is really simple. It will sync with the user's phone, and will support desktop notifications, keyboard shortcuts and more. Similar to WhatsApp web, users simply have to download and install the app, and then scan a QR code with their phone to sync the device.
According to WhatsApp, "Today we're introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere - whether on your phone or computer at home or work. Like WhatsApp Web, our desktop app is simply an extension of your phone: the app mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device".
In terms of other devices, WhatsApp will remain the same for supported devices, which includes Android, iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, BlackBerry 10 and even Nokia S60. You can download the app from here.
