Official statistics issued in the Sultanate of Oman showed that the total remittances by expatriate workers grew to OR 702 million ($1.825 billion) last year, up from OR 643 million ($1.671 billion) in the previous year, an increase of OR 59 million, which is equivalent to 9.1%.
According to these statistics, the total number of expatriate workers in the Sultanate grew to 424,319 workers last year, up from 407,186 workers in the previous year, an increase of 4.2%. The same source attributed this rise to expanding private sector's activities.
