OPEC's Rodriguez: Drop in oil Q2 demand maybe between 2 million-1.5 million

OPEC's Secretary General Ali Rodriguez told reporters Wednesday, at his arrival at Maiquetia Airport in Venezuela that "There is not yet a firm idea on the size of the drop in demand," said Rodriguez.  

 

"Some say it will be 2 million barrels per day, others only 1.5 million.... We have to wait and see how things go before any decision can be taken."  

 

He added that OPEC members do not yet have a consensus on the need for or size of an oil production cut this March, the cartel's .  

 

Rodriguez said OPEC members were waiting to see how the current slowdown in the U.S. economy influences the traditional drop in demand for oil in the second quarter of the year.
