International media buyer Omnicom has recently launched its media specialist arm, Optimum Media Direction (OMD), in the Middle East. OMD opened offices in Dubai and Jeddah, covering the Levant, lower gulf and North African region. In the short term, expansion for OMD offices is expected in both Lebanon and Egypt with further growth in later stages, according to a company press release.
“With $18.7 billion billings worldwide, OMD is Omnicom's worldwide media network with over 4,000 people in 110 offices in 87 countries. We deliver the best return on investment for over 15,000 clients globally,” OMD Regional Managing Director stated Elie Khouri. “We have grown out of three of the most creative global advertising networks, BBDO, DDB and TBWA.”
“We were not interested in setting up just another media independent,” explained Alain Khouri, Impact/BBDO's group chairman and chairman of OMD's regional board. “Our ambition is to be a true media powerhouse.” — (menareport.com)
