A total of 25 local community contractors who work with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) have been awarded certificates for their achievements in PDO's Coaching Scheme.
The certificates were handed out in a ceremony attended by representatives of the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) at PDO's Oil and Gas Exhibition Center on October 26.
The Coaching Scheme, which is an integral part of PDO's local community contractor (LCC) program, takes a step-by-step approach to helping contractors implement and maintain a sound health, safety and environment (HSE) management system and good business practices.
The scheme grades LCCs on a star based rating. Last June, 26 LCCs were awarded one-, two- or three-star certificates in the HSE component of the scheme. After attaining three-stars, an LCC should have a basic understanding of health and safety: how to spot hazards and carry out a simple risk assessment so that it can work within PDO's regulations.
This time, most of the LCCs were awarded four-stars for completing the first half of the business-skills program and producing a company business plan. As the LCCs move towards five stars, they will develop their skills in financial, human-resource and quality management. — (menareport.com)
