ALBAWABA: An important occurrence occurred in the Hazro region of Diyarbakır during road building when a Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) petroleum pipeline burst.

Crude oil leaked from the rupture and contaminated the irrigation lines that led from the Başlar Dam.

The break happened because of an intervention during road building, which mixed the spilled crude oil with the water in the irrigation channels, according to sources. Locals informed the authorities of the situation as soon as possible.

As a result, TPAO sent teams to the location to start repairs and cleanup right away. The continuous cleanup operations seek to repair the impacted areas and lessen the spill's negative environmental effects.

As per TPAO, the cause of the leak was caused by excavation machinery damaging the pipeline while working on a unique water pipeline project that connected Çaytepe (Katin) Village and Hazro District of Diyarbakır.

The quick steps taken to manage the problem were detailed by TPAO in their statement, including the excavation of trenches at three separate places to contain the spilled oil and the prompt cessation of oil flow. Additionally, precautions have been taken to avoid contaminating the environment; tankers are used to deliver gathered oil to producing facilities.
