Phase one and two of Durrat Al Bahrain near completion

Durrat Al Bahrain, the Kingdom’s largest planned luxury residential, commercial and resort development – today announced a major progress  with the finalization of infrastructure works in  seven islands in the in 3- billion USD project. Villas of the first phase of the project will be delivered to the owners by the end of the  year  2007.


As part of phase one and two villa construction, work is well underway on 890 villas at the landmark project which are expected to be delivered to owners between the end of 2007 and mid 2008.

Contracts for construction of villas in phase one and two  worth more than 210 million dollars were awarded to Bahraini companies for the establishment of the villa and the relevant infrastructure projects.


Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat, Chairman of Durrat Al Bahrain, said, “We are pleased to reach this  key milestone as we are approaching the completion of the first phase.  We have achieved great progress and are looking forward  to delivery of these unique villa to eager homeowners that are ready to start the unique resort lifestyle being offered at Durrat Al Bahrain.

Also commenting on the award, Mr. Jassim Al Jawder, CEO of Durrat Al Bahrain, said “We are pleased with the progress being made to date in infrastructure projects including the motorway that links the development to Manama city . We have also completed construction of all bridges that link the project’s islands to the mainland as well as the over all water and sewerage system networks.”

Durrat Al Bahrain has been planned as a world-class residential, tourist destination, offering a lifestyle experience unrivalled in the Middle East. Upon completion in 2010, it is expected that there will be more than 60,000 permanent residents as well as some 4,500 visitors a day.

In addition to the 12 islands and the crescent  which will represent the commercial heart of  Durrat Al Bahrain, the project will also boast  a world class marina and an 18-hole golf course that will be constructed by a world leading golf course design and operating company.
