Port of Algiers records nine percent traffic increase for 2003

More than 9.1 million tons of goods passed through the Port of Algiers in 2003, Algeria’s official news agency cited from Algiers Port Authority statistics. 

 

In the first 11 months of 2003, trade at the port reached 926.288 million Algerian dinars ($13.2 million), an 8.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Exports reached AD 1.66 million during the same period, a 26 percent jump compared to the first 11 months of 2002. 

 

The Port of Algiers is the country’s principal maritime facility for general cargo and passengers. Shipping is a government monopoly in Algeria run by the the National Corporation for Maritime Transport and the Algerian National Navigation Company. — (menareport.com)
