2021 ADIPEC Awards Honour Projects, People and Innovation Transforming Global Energy System

Siemens Energy, industrial block chain start-up Data Gumbo, Saudi Aramco and The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), were among the winners at the prestigious ADIPEC Awards as the energy industry honoured the ideas, initiatives and disruptors driving transformational change and positioning the industry to thrive in a net zero carbon future.
With eight categories recognising the projects, innovators and ideas at the forefront of the energy industry’s transformation, the 11th edition of the ADIPEC Awards attracted 709 entries from 54 different countries. The award winners were handpicked by an independent Jury of exceptional global energy leaders.
In addition to the companies honoured at a glittering VIP ceremony at the Emirates Palace, in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, the ADIPEC Awards also awarded two individuals. Dr. Fatih Birol, who has served as Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) since 2015, was presented with the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award and Bashayer Aldakkan, who works for Saudi Aramco, was named Young Technical Professional of the Year.

Breakthrough Research of the Year - ADNOC and Microsilicon: This award celebrates the importance of scientific research and innovation, promoting a better use of energy sources, and encouraging a new generation of researchers to achieve success in their work.
Innovation in Decarbonisation Company of the Year – Siemens Energy: This award recognises an energy company that has developed transformational solutions to reducing their footprint in terms of emissions in the environment, as well as water and land consumption.
Breakthrough Technological Project of the Year - ADNOC: This award recognises an innovative technology project, product or service that harnesses the power of an ever-expanding range of transformational new technologies.
Oil and Gas Start-up Company of the Year – Data Gumbo: This award honours an oil and gas start-up working on innovative projects with the greatest potential to reshape the industry based on innovation, business model and impact of its products and services.
Social Contribution and Local Content Project of the Year - Saudi Aramco: This award celebrates a project that has created employment, developed local skills and capacity, collaborated with local suppliers and subcontractors, and enhanced local entrepreneurship.
Digital Transformation Project of the Year - ADNOC: This award recognises a project that has radically changed processes, customer experience and value through the application of digital technologies.
Young Technical Professional of the Year - Bashayer Aldakkan, Saudi Aramco: This award salutes a young technical professional who has shown the ability to become a key contributor to the future development of the industry and who has strong potential to reach senior management level
Oil and Gas Inclusion and Diversity Company of the Year - ADNOC: This award recognises a company for promoting, delivering, and embedding inclusion and diversity into their business strategy and for creating an equal, diverse, and inclusive environment for all in their organisation.
Operational Excellence Company Of the Year (Excellence in Remote Working) – Saudi Aramco: This award honours a company that has introduced innovative solutions to run operations remotely, mitigate the impact of COVID-19, and demonstrate the resilience of the energy industry as a whole.
