Abu Dhabi Airports Welcomes New Air Arabia Abu Dhabi to Abu Dhabi International Airport
Abu Dhabi Airports has welcomed the upcoming launch of the UAE capital’s first low-cost carrier, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will cater to the growing low-cost travel market through its hub in Abu Dhabi International Airport, strengthening the city’s air connectivity and accessibility. It is anticipated that the airline will greatly increase the number of destinations served from Abu Dhabi International Airport, offering new choices to passengers to travel directly to previously unserved destinations. The new carrier will be based out of Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
Bryan Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Etihad Aviation Group and Air Arabia to launch Abu Dhabi’s first low-cost carrier. The establishment Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, with its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, is a milestone in the continuing growth of Abu Dhabi’s aviation industry and the Emirate’s status as a global hub for business and leisure travellers.”
“Abu Dhabi is an incredible destination, with a wealth of cultural, historical, culinary and entertainment attractions, and we are confident in the incredible opportunities available to low-cost carriers interested in working with us to take advantage of our excellent connectivity throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.” added Thompson.
Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, said: “Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will be formed through the establishment of an independent joint venture company owned by Etihad Aviation Group and Air Arabia, with its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The company will operate a low-cost business model and independent strategy, steered by its board of directors, which will consist of members nominated by Etihad and Air Arabia.
