Abu Dhabi Municipality Sponsors LightingTech Abu Dhabi 2017

Under the patronage of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities - Abu Dhabi City Municipality, the LightingTech Abu Dhabi Summit will kick off on Monday 11 December 2017 in Westin Abu Dhabi Hotel. The event, which runs for two days, is organised by Advanced Conferences & Meetings FZ-LLC (ACM).

The Summit stems from the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities - Abu Dhabi City Municipality to implementing Abu Dhabi Lighting Strategy aimed at adopting policies, procedures and projects built on the principles of sustainability and saving power consumption. It also seeks to establish a real platform for the success of sustainability project at all levels spanning the entire infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi.

The Summit attracts the participation of a wide array of organisations including public entities, local/regional/international developers, specialist consultants/contractors, and global manufacturers of lighting materials. The event will review the latest developments as well as the top regional and international practices and strategies of lighting including smart apps for operating and controlling streetlight intensity.

The Summit offers an excellent platform for research and exposure to multiple modern technologies and opportunities for forging public-private partnerships in various types of government and investment projects such as roads, infrastructure and buildings.

The Summit aims to stress the leading role of the Municipality in the field of lighting and the need of benefiting from international expertise in the lighting of streets, bridges, tunnels, pedestrians areas and public areas and parks. The ultimate objective of the Municipality is to come up with a shared vision for the best practices and capitalize on the top technologies and creative ideas. Such efforts will contribute to saving energy, achieve sustainability, create investment opportunities, and foster the culture of preserving the environment in a way that supports the economic drive.

It is worth mentioning that the Summit will review several working papers. The Abu Dhabi City Municipality will participate this year with three working papers presented by a panel of experts and engineers, discussing the most critical projects for the improvement of the current street lighting system in Abu Dhabi. They also review the most recent programmes pursued by the Municipality to manage street lighting maintenance. Also, a bunch of municipal experts will participate in the technical discussion sessions to enrich the Summit with their local and international expertise and highlight their success in implementing sustainable lighting strategy in new projects. The policy coincides with plans for redressing general lighting position to bring it in line with the modern standards and specifications of Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision.

The implementation of the lighting strategy contributes to the achievement of multiple benefits that contribute to the reduction of the total bill of energy consumption by at least 70%, compared to the previous standards. This policy concurs with the world’s best lighting environment and contributes to cutting CO2 emissions by 75%, as well as slashing logistics and maintenance works.
