Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of the Emirate's commercial and community ports as well as Khalifa Industrial Zone, represented by Abu Dhabi Marine Services – SAFEEN, the preferred provider of world-class integrated marine and ports services, and in cooperation with Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, visited Delma elementary school in Al Dhafra region to enhance maritime safety practices among students.

The visit comes as part of Abu Dhabi Ports’ campaign to raise awareness of marine safety and in line with its CSR initiatives in the neighbouring communities of Al Dhafra region.  

This ongoing campaign is targeting school students through conducting interactive awareness lectures and activities with the aim to educate and train them on the importance of complying with maritime safety procedures.

The main objective of the campaign is to demonstrate Abu Dhabi Ports’ commitment to promote best practices that ensure the safety, security, and wellbeing of everyone using the services in the ports.

 Abu Dhabi Ports delegation was welcomed by members of the school administration and students. The delegation form the Marine Safety department at SAFEEN, Abu Dhabi Marine Services – SAFEEN, the operating arm of ferries crossing to Delma Island, gave a presentation to increase awareness among students of ways to prevent various kinds of dangers ship passengers might encounter. Demonstrated proper ways to use lifejackets and follow safety procedures, SAFEEN delegation was keen to ensure students that the safety of passengers is among the top priorities of SAFEEN

The students watched a number of relevant photos on the subject to raise their awareness of marine services and educate them on the aspects of Marine safety. Competitions were held at Delma school theatre to highlight that purpose

“School visits are part of our CSR commitment towards the communities around our ports. We are eager to educate the students and raise their safety awareness about using our port’s facilities. Our visit to Delma Elementary School in Al Dhafra Region aims to educate students of the concept of marine safety and highlight the importance of following proper safety procedures to avoid any dangers. It is important to provide students with guidance for conducting a drill regimen and to educate them on the procedures  they should follow  in case of emergencies. The safety of our sons and daughters is of utmost importance to us” said Maktoum Al Houqani, Chief Marine Services Officer, at SAFEEN

At the end of the visit, Abu Dhabi Marine Service - SAFEEN delegation distributed life vests to the students. The visit was favourably received by the students who were eager to learn more about marine safety
