Abu Dhabi University’s new Dubai Campus, which is set to welcome students with the start of the new academic year, engaged in developing several strategic initiatives with leading organisations and industry leaders across diverse sectors in the UAE.

In commemoration of the World Photography Day, and in line with the University’s strategy to encourage innovation and creative thinking, ADU has partnered with Dubai Internet City and Canon to conduct a photography competition and workshop targeted to aspiring budding photographers in the UAE.

The competition aims to engage and encourage promising locally nurtured talents that can contribute to strengthening the foundations of a diversified creative innovative economy, and will be supported by a photography workshop that Abu Dhabi University’s new Dubai Campus will host on 26 August 2017.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Ibrahim Sidawi, Director of Abu Dhabi University’s Dubai Campus, highlighted the University’s commitment to entering strategic partnerships with leading business districts, as well as local and international companies across industries for the wider benefit of students. He said: “At ADU, we are keen to contribute in initiatives with strategic partners like DIC and Canon that support emerging local talent in the UAE, and seek to open doors for them to grow and succeed. Collective efforts among companies and entities across sectors can play a significant role in empowering our youth, encouraging the spirit of innovation, and supporting the transformation of ideas into reality. We are definitely happy to take part in contributing to support an innovative knowledge-based economy.”

He expressed pride in partnering with Dubai Internet City, the largest hub in the Middle East for technology-focused companies and businesses, and Canon, the leader in the field of professional and consumer imaging equipment and information systems. Furthermore, he confirmed that the University would enter more collaborations to benefit the students and institutions alike, as well as to support further economic development and educational excellence.

Dr. Sidawi added: “As educators of future generations, we are committed to not only developing integrated curricula that provide students with the academic knowledge and qualifications, but also encourage innovation and creativity that enables students to exploit their full potential to positively contribute to the local community, and to humanity as a whole.”
