The College of Health Science (CoHS) at Abu Dhabi University is launching the “Health and Wellness Ambassador Program”, targeting CoHS students and graduates.

The College of Health Science (CoHS) at Abu Dhabi University is launching the “Health and Wellness Ambassador Program”, targeting CoHS students and graduates. The program aims to stimulate and engage students to participate and engage in preparing wellness programs and health-related activities for ADU and outreach to the UAE community.

The Health and Wellness Ambassadors will be planning for awareness campaigns and activities on various health topics to enhance the awareness in the community such as COVID-19, diabetes, breast cancer, mental health and other topics. The Health and Wellness Ambassadors will receive special trainings and guidance by CoHS Faculty who will support and monitor the activities of the program.

Prof. Wassim Y. Almawi, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, commented on the “added value of Health and Wellness Ambassador Program” in enhancing the implementation of the University mandate of expanding students’ leadership in healthcare, through participation in health education, campaigns, fundraising, and related activities.

With the launch of the program, Dr. Iffat Elbarazi, Assistant Professor in Public Health at ADU, and Coordinator of the Health and Wellness Ambassador Program in CoHS, emphasized the importance of encouraging students’ engagement and promoting innovative and independent learning. She highlighted that the Program is designed to build a culture of health and wellbeing in the local community and beyond.

Ms. Darine Hachem, Senior Instructor of Nutrition at ADU, and Coordinator of the Health and Wellness Ambassador Program in CoHS, said “We prioritize providing holistic learning opportunities for our students to encourage proactive engagement and contributions to the community”. She added “Our objective is to equip our students with the necessary skillsets to become future health professionals and fulfill the capacity gaps in local and international healthcare sectors in the UAE and beyond.”

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
