Abu Dhabi Municipality Completes Landscaping Project Near Sheikh Zayed Mosque

The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities - Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) is progressing with projects for revamping the landscaping of internal roads, roundabouts and vital areas in Abu Dhabi Island. Such projects aim to upgrade the efficiency & performance of the infrastructure, improve the urban and aesthetic appearance, and enhance the traffic safety levels in the city. Every effort is made to ensure that these works are in line with the standards of sustainable development in Abu Dhabi, and meet the needs of the community.

Under this context, the Municipality has recently accomplished a project for improving the landscaping of roads in the surrounds of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Wahat Al Kararma in Abu Dhabi.

These projects stem from the keenness of the municipal system to renew and upgrade the infrastructure including roads, bridges with the aim of providing an infrastructure capable of supporting the upswing seen by Abu Dhabi city. Such efforts are in line with Abu Dhabi Vision, and contribute to enhancing the consistent and aesthetic appearance of all Abu Dhabi districts.

The project included landscaping two roundabouts at Wahat Al Karama to the front of the entrance of Ritz Carlton Hotel. Works included installing models at the R/As, constructing movable concrete pillars without impacting the view of the R/As, landscaping & decorative lighting, and carrying out road maintenance to step up the traffic safety in the area.

As part of the improvement works, the Municipality installed solid tile in the area together with landscaping, and the installation of sculptures in the two R/As.

The upgrading of the two areas, which lasted for 30 days at a cost of 1.3 m dirham, covered an area of 9967 square meters. The area was covered with greens, soil covering, tiles, sculptures and other decorative works.
