Al Bandar Rotana Team’s Hospital Visit Lends Valuable Support to Children Living With Thalassemia Disease

Underlining Rotana’s ongoing commitment to the local community, staff from Al Bandar Rotana in Dubai recently organised a special “back to school” event designed to enrich the lives of children with thalassemia disease.
Rotana team members arranged and participated in a fun program of entertainment for around 30 children at the Thalassemia Centre at Dubai’s Latifa Hospital. This was followed by a gift presentation, where the children were provided with packages of school supplies, as well as a delicious lunch prepared by Rotana’s kitchen team led by the Executive Chef, Pasquale Sipone.
Hussein Hachem, General Manager, Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana, said, “Our team members were delighted to meet the children and staff at Latifa Hospital’s Thalassemia Centre. This outstanding facility is doing extremely valuable work, and their visit was a humbling and inspiring experience. Al Bandar Rotana remains fully committed to supporting the local community. I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this event a success, and for taking the time to bring some joy to the lives of the children.”
The award-winning Thalassemia Centre has acquired global prestige through its research activities and medical breakthroughs, which have helped facilitate diagnosis and effective management of the condition.
Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder characterized by abnormal haemoglobin production, which can lead to severe anaemia. Haemoglobin is an essential component of red blood cells and carries oxygen to all parts of the body. When there is not enough haemoglobin, oxygen cannot travel efficiently to the organs, leaving them unable to function properly.
