AUC theatre to present Molière’s “Tartuffe”

“Tartuffe”

French playwright Molière classic comedy “Tartuffe,” by AUC Theatre. Tartuffe was first performed in 1664 at the court of King Louis XIV. AUC Theatre is performing the translation of the satirical comedy by American playwright Constance Congdon.

The play is set in a wealthy and acquisitive California family home, where all manner of things have been bought to add value to life. There is the man wanting to buy his religious and spiritual piety rather than seek it himself and the religious con-man to exploit the situation. Tartuffe is a play about power: the power of money, sex, parents, religion and government.

The play is directed by Jane Page and will be performed by Ahmed Badran, Malak Yasser, Farida El Sabh, Sarah El Shazly, Yousif Najem, Mahmoud El Rayes, Mariam El Gendy, Jason Will, Farah El Toukhi, Ahmed El Sherbiny, Ameena Houta, and Ahmed Hani.
