Awsaj Academy hosts workshop to discuss learning challenges

Awsaj Academy hosted a workshop to discuss learning difficulties in support of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s (QF) mission to provide world-class education and to address immediate social needs in the community. 

The workshop, ‘I Think My Child Has a Learning Disability’ is one of numerous free year-round parent awareness sessions which Awsaj Academy organises aimed at encouraging parent involvement in their children’s  academic development. 

Supporting Awsaj Academy’s mission to address the needs of students with learning challenges, specialists participated from different organisations dealing with students’ academics, psychological and medical conditions. The Supreme Council of Education, Rumeilah Hospital, Shafallah Center, and Awsaj Teaching and Learning Center were among those which spoke about their organisations’ work. 

Commenting on the importance of the workshop, Sally Chalouhy, Awsaj Middle School Counselor said: “Awsaj Academy is keen on emphasising parent involvement in children’s academic and social development, which is why these workshops are so important. 

“Children with learning disabilities have different educational needs, and identifying these learning difficulties early on, is what is going to help parents and teachers provide the adequate support that will be beneficial and have a significant impact on the student’s success.” 

Awsaj Academy is one of a number of schools under the umbrella of QF aimed at broadening first-class education for all across Qatar. During the last academic year, almost 500 parents and employees from schools across Qatar attended Awsaj Academy workshops which they found useful and informative.
