Bahrain Islamic Bank, one of the leading financial institutions in the Kingdom, and a devoted supporter to empowering women in the industry, has launched the ‘Women in Leadership’ program an internal initiative aimed at investing and inspiring BisB’s female assets to build and unlock their leadership potential, helping them pursue senior roles in the workforce.

The Bank has consistently prioritised the need to develop leaders in the industry, by inspiring a transformation mind-set and harnessing a culture of innovation. The Women in Leadership program forms a key pillar of BisB’s Ishraq “Back-to-Basics” strategy, launched in 2016, with a commitment to develop talent and promote gender diversity.

BisB’s ‘Women in Leadership’ program focuses on establishing a platform to enable female professionals across the Bank to more effectively chart their career paths and achieve their development goals. This initiative aims to fine-tune and install need-based attributes required by women at different stage of their career journey, establishing the essential building blocks for emerging females to succeed when navigating through their career path.

Commenting on this program, the Chief Executive Officer of BisB, Mr. Hassan Jarrar, said, “BisB’s ‘Women in Leadership’ program is an extension of our existing corporate strategy and a reflection of our deep rooted commitment to supporting the professional development of women not only in our industry but across the country. With seniority, the career ladder gets steeper and more complex needs starts to emerge; the natural demands for executive roles require impactful leadership, transformational mind-sets and mature unique professional expertise. We are therefore excited to be launching this program which aims to provide our female talent pool with the necessary tools, knowledge and resources to help pave their way into the future leaders of tomorrow.”

The program offers a more complex understanding of issues related to professional women and work, examines the opportunities, challenges, trade-offs, and organizational dynamics experienced by women within the organisation, and evaluates the behaviours, capabilities, and values needed to become a leader in the industry.  The Women in Leadership Program will feature a series of workshops, mentoring sessions and networking events conducted in partnership with industry leaders.
