Bank Sohar Conducts Safety Drills in Branches

In collaboration with the Public Authority for Civil Defence, Bank Sohar had conducted mock safety drills during working hours at branches in Bahla and Al Buraimi. The Bank successfully executed the safety awareness initiative as means of evaluating strengths and weaknesses of its evacuation processes and responsiveness of staff in emergency situations.

Commenting the exercise, Mr. Khamis Masoud Al Rahbi, Sr. AGM – Retail Banking at Bank Sohar, said, “The safety of our staff, customers, partners, and suppliers remains paramount and require continued investment when it comes to training and building awareness. We are pleased to report that our initiative was a complete success, observing a responsible and prompt response from both teams. Bank Sohar is not only concerned with the management of financial crises but that of health and wellbeing when disaster strikes.  Thus, ensuring that we have provided the right set of tools and response mechanisms remains at the top of our agenda.”

The bank coordinated its exercise having ensured that there was no risk to customers or impact upon its services, including ATM and CDM facilities at the respective branches. The evacuation lasted 15 minutes before a total of 16 staff returned to work. With a total of 31 branches across Oman, further emergency drills are expected in the near future in busier locations.
