Bloomberg hosts Green Summit at COP27

The Bloomberg Green Summit 2022 opened yesterday at COP27 Sharm El Sheikh, with the participation of the foremost leaders in business, finance, policy, academia and NGOs for candid conversations focused on creating solutions to support the goals set forth at COP27.

Speakers from the UAE included Ahmed Al Calily, Chief Strategy & Risk Officer at Mubadala and Derek Rozycki, Head of Responsible Investing at Mubadala who discussed responsible investing and its contribution to a more sustainable future. 

Speaking about responsible investing, Ahmed Al Calily said: “At Mubadala, responsible investing is part of our DNA. More and more investors are recognizing the integral role responsible investment is contributing to a sustainable future, shareholder value and returns. In a study conducted with Bloomberg Media, we found that 86 percent of all respondents believe that responsible investment is a powerful driver of a more sustainable future, which means all parties need to coordinate and push for more standardisation.”

“We strongly believe that generating financial returns and delivering a positive impact are not mutually exclusive but can powerfully combine to create tangible and lasting change.”

The summit’s panel discussions examined the latest climate technology innovations catalyzing change, the changes needed to boost resilience and lead a low-carbon lifestyle as well as innovation solutions to maximise purpose and profits.

Leveraging Bloomberg’s exclusive data and reporting, speakers also explored methods for accelerating climate plans and measuring progress during this critical course-correcting moment in history.
