BTEA Concludes its Participation in the 20th Saudi International Wedding Fair 2020

In line with its efforts to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal wedding destination by showcasing its facilities and services in regional and international markets, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has concluded its participation in the 20th Saudi International Wedding Fair, which was held between the 5th and 7th of March 2020 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The 25-square-meter pavilion, which carried the slogan "Island Wedding", successfully attracted a large number of visitors by offering exciting activities, including valuable competitions that promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as a tourist and unique wedding destination. Each winner received a free stay in one of the participating hotels, in addition to other prizes. Coffee, tea and traditional Bahraini sweets were also provided to visitors of the pavilion.
The Bahraini Pavilion included exhibitors from hotels including Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, Al Areen Palace & Spa Bahrain in addition to the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Gulf Air.
On this occasion, Acting Director of Marketing and Tourism Promotion Directorate at BTEA, Dr. Ali Follad said, "We will continue to participate in such regional and international events in order to increase the number of weddings held in the Kingdom of Bahrain and enhance its position as a destination for weddings and celebrations. The exhibition has provided us with the opportunity to hold meetings with a number of Saudi families interested in hosting their wedding celebrations in Bahrain. We were also able to promote a wide range of services related to organizing weddings as well as showcase various unique wedding halls.”
The fair is considered to be the largest gathering in the wedding sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the GCC, where it has witnessed the attendance of 30,000 visitors. The annual event targets families wishing to host weddings, event organizers, as well as suppliers offering the latest products and services in the wedding sector from leading local and international brands. The event provides an ideal platform for participants and visitors alike to meet and connect with renowned international companies, as well as network with VIPs.
BTEA’s participation in the event comes as part of its strategic outreach program to promote the tourism brand ‘Ours. Yours.’ which is aimed at showcasing the Kingdom of Bahrain as the ideal tourism destination to the regional and international markets, and further promote the Kingdom’s touristic offering as a main contributor to the overall economic growth in line with the Economic Vision 2030.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers
In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
