The new service is part of DED-Ajman efforts to develop the economic licencing mechanism and improving the quality of services.

This move will play a key role in the efforts towards achieving total sustainable development for the emirate. The new SMS service is part of the amendments being made for the new licencing system and also complies with DED-Ajman's standards and guidelines on facilitating business transactions and increasing economic and investment activity in Ajman.

HE Ali Eissa Al Nuaimi, Director General, DED-Ajman, revealed that the launch of the ‘Automatic Renewal of Trade Licence’ service was developed based on the classification of the degree of risk for economic activities and also represents an exceptional achievement for the department, adding to its track record in creating easy-to-follow procedures for licence renewal. The launch of the service also complements the continuing move to position the emirate as an ideal investment haven.

Al Nuaimi said, “The new service paves the way for streamlining and improving transactions for processing the renewal of licences--saving great time and effort for the investor. This step is an essential boost to Ajman's drive towards leadership, competitiveness and attracts more investment to the emirate in support of economic diversification.”

Yaqoub Yousif Rasheed, Director of IT Department, DED-Ajman, said that the development of the Automatic Renewal of Trade Licence is part of the DED’s commitment to provide the best digital services to its customers and meet their expectations. With this new service, investors will be sent an SMS that includes an electronic link to pay the renewal fees and once this is done, the renewed licence will be sent thereafter via email. The new service is part of the new version of the licencing system and in line with the plan to develop the economic licence system.

“The new service is part of our efforts to develop the economic licencing mechanism--improving the quality of services, streamline business and create an attractive investment environment for Ajman. The new service is one of the features of the new version of the licencing system, which is aimed at increasing the efficiency of transactions and processes. This will play a pivotal role in enhancing the competitive advantages of Ajman and making it one of the most attractive destinations for foreign and domestic direct investments. The new system is expected to achieve 70 transactions per day,” concluded Saud Al Shammari, Director of Registration Department of Economic and licences, DED-Ajman.

Background Information

Department of Economic development-Ajman

The boom of Ajman’s now well established and highly competitive economy began with the Department of Economic Development (DED), a division of the Municipality and Planning Department, before it became an independent local authority in 2011. During that year, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of the Emirate of Ajman and a Member of the UAE Supreme Council, issued Emiri Decree No. (1) on the reorganization of the DED in Ajman to achieve the emirate’s sustainable economic development as well as create a fair investment landscape and consumer environment to attract national and foreign investments. The reorganization also sought to provide adequate information and data on the economic activities and investment opportunities in the emirate.
