DEWA honours Excellence Award and Ibdaa Initiative winners, and three distinguished work teams

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured distinguished employees for the 4th quarter of 2014. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, honoured the employees in a ceremony at DEWA’s main office in Zabeel East. Present were Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, and DEWA management and staff.
Al Tayer, accompanied by Salman and Al Akraf, honoured 15 employees from the Power & Water Planning, Customer Services, Transmission Power, Generation, Distribution Power, Business Support & Human Resources, Water & Civil, and Information Technology for the Individual Excellence Awards for Q4 of 2014. Al Tayer also honoured 9 employees from Power & Water Planning, and Distribution Power, winners of Ibdaa Initiative for Q4 of 2014.
Distinguished teams in the second half of 2014 were also honoured. The team who worked on ‘Revising Test Frequency of Fire Pumps in DEWA 132/11kV Transmission Substations’ project won the Distinguished Team-DEWA award. The Collection Management System (CMS) team won the Distinguished Team - Best Administrative Experiment award. The EMD K-Station HVAC team won the Distinguished Team-Technical Project award.
Al Tayer commended the efforts and achievements of the distinguished employees and teams. He noted that DEWA always underlines the achievements of outstanding employees. This supports its strategy to motivate and encourage staff to improve performance and enhance job loyalty.

The Ibdaa Initiative winners for Q4 of 2014 were: Abdulla Al Aghbari, Vice President of Distribution Planning, Maryam Al Neaimi, Senior Manager Network Analysis, Muhannad Ashaar, Manager-Distribution System Analysis and Network Study, Mohammed Al Abbadi, Senior Engineer-Network Study, Nagarajan Packirisamy, Assistant Manager-Distribution Asset Management Cable, Abdulilah Alabdullah, Manager-Distribution Cable Jointing, Naushad Hashim, Assistant Manager-Distribution System Studies, Monjoor Khan, Engineer-Distribution Substation Emergency Maintenance, and Mohammed Jadalla, Senior Engineer-Network Design.
The team that won the Distinguished Team-DEWA award, was formed to revise pump maintenance test through risk assessment study. The project successfully reduced the carbon emissions and achieved cost savings of AED 2.342,515 Million annually. The team was honoured for their Revising Test Frequency of Fire Pumps in DEWA 132/11kV Transmission Substations project. The team that won the Distinguished Team - Best Administrative Experiment award, has automated the recovery process and resulted in improvement of Corporate KPI Day Sales Outstanding. They were honoured for their Collection Management System (CMS) project. The team that won the Distinguished Team-Technical award, took over the jobs that were usually done by contractors and carried out those jobs in-house by existing manpower of EMD K-station and achieved cost saving of AED 312,801. The team was honoured for their EMD K-Station HVAC project.
