Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has installed donation boxes in all its branches for its staff to participate in the campaign to help people in the Levant. The move is part of DEWA’s efforts towards the Show Compassion campaign to provide relief to refugees and victims of severe cold weather in the Levant, following the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

"Our wise leadership always provides a helping hand to the needy and distressed anywhere in the world. The help that the Government and people of the UAE offer to those in need is well-known all over the world. This charitable and humanitarian campaign is one of the pillars that our prudent leadership is keen to consolidate among the people in the UAE.  Our country spares no effort to provide relief to our brothers and sisters in the Levant, stand by them, and help them overcome their plight in these difficult circumstances," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

"As part of our vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, we support charitable and humanitarian campaigns nationally, regionally, and globally. These activities are an integral part of DEWA's corporate social responsibility, and our humanitarian and charitable efforts towards the common good. We have urged our staff to effectively participate in this campaign to help those in distress in the Levant by donating in our special donation boxes and do whatever it takes to support this noble cause," said Al Tayer.

DEWA has launched an internal campaign for its staff to brief them about donation locations inside the UAE. DEWA was one of the first government departments and organisations to donate towards this campaign. It provided two cheques, one from DEWA and one from the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), each for AED 1 million to the Show Compassion campaign.
