DMA shares its experiences in support of management and leadership development

The Department of Municipal Affairs in Abu Dhabi, hosted last Thursday at its Abu Dhabi headquarters, the first session of the “T6 Leadership Development Program”; a program that combines the best and latest leadership and management theories of the West, that which is applicable, realistic and practical with the specific needs of the local leaders.  

The ten-week program is delivered by the Altaaat Leadership Development Institute in which participants meet once a week for three hours, directs an hour of the session towards interviewing a different leader each week. His Excellency Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Shareef, undersecretary of the DMA made himself available to participants where he shared his valuable insight into leadership and the responsibilities of the leader, emphasizing the necessity for leadership ongoing learning and development.  

Dr. Abdulla Ghareeb Al Bloushi, Executive Director of Municipal Affairs Support, and one of the participants has bestowed his full support towards the success of the program, through accommodating the first week’s session at DMA premises and inviting other managers from the Department who had shared their experiences with T6 program participants from other companies. 

Additionally, participants had the opportunity to hold a more elaborate interview with Mr. Abdellatif Hegazy, Consultant Excellence Leader – Business Support Division at the DMA in which he shared some valuable examples and stories of leadership, from his vivid experience and knowledge in this context. 

Mansoor Salem Al Mehairi, Acting Division Manager of Training Division at the DMA further expressed his admiration of the program and the desire to roll it for the rest of the Municipalities. He commented saying “the T6 Leadership Development Program combines latest ‘international’ leadership theories and best practices but puts them into a ‘local’ context that makes it both relevant and applicable to the local audience”. 

The Arabic word ”Altaaat” is a term recently invented by popular understanding as a way by which to construct methodologies for achieving a particular goal and that by outlining the steps required for achieving that goal through the use of verbs that start with the Arabic letter ”ta” and which ”Altaaat” implies the plural of. These verbs are: “taqra2 = read”; “tufaker = think”; “tajtame3 = meet”; “tunaqesh = discuss”; “tujareb = pilot”; and “taqoud = lead”.  This understanding reflects the Altaaat methodology for delivering its learning programs and consultancy services.
