Dubai Chamber honours members for distinguished export performance
As part of its initiative to encourage strong export performance among its members, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured four companies as SME Exporters of the Month stretching from October 2013 to January 2014 during an exclusive ceremony held at its head office recently.
H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice Chairman, Dubai Chamber, congratulated the representatives of the four companies including Ronesca Middle East FZCO, Kimoha Entrepreneurs Limited, Farzana Trading and Atarfil Middle East as he presented them with a certificate of recognition and an SME Exporter of the Month trophy.
The honour went to Ronesca Middle East FZCO in recognition of their distinguished export performance for achieving the highest export value during October 2013 while Kimoha Entrepreneurs Limited was honoured for achieving the highest number of markets exported to during November 2013.
Also, Farzana Trading emerged as the company with the outstanding export performance in terms of the highest number of certificates of origin for the month of December 2013 while Atarfil Middle East was recognised for its distinguished export performance as a recent start-up company with the highest export value during January 2014.
In his welcome address, H.E. Al Shirawi stated that this honour leads to higher trade performance which is further enriched by the emirate’s high return investment environment. All these factors combined help enhance our business community’s competiveness in the domestic and overseas markets, he said.
H.E. Al Shirawi added: “Coming in line with Dubai Chamber’s strategic objectives of creating a favourable business environment and supporting the development of business in Dubai, the SME Exporter of the Month recognition encourages a conducive business environment in the emirate while contributing to strengthening Dubai’s position as the world’s third largest re-export centre.’’
Reiterating Dubai Chamber’s commitment to providing all the support to the business community, H.E. Al Shirawi lauded the contribution of the trade sector to Dubai’s economy as he said that the SME members play an essential role in the emirate’s growth and development through their exports and re-exports.
Top officials of the recipient companies expressed their gratitude to Dubai Chamber for the support provided to them. They said the SME Exporter of the Month recognition encourages positive and healthy competition which yields benefits to their company and helped to increase the overall competitiveness of Dubai businesses.
Dubai Chamber launched the SME Exporter of the Month initiative in 2009, under the name SME Exporter of the Quarter. The initiative was changed in 2010 to make it a monthly event due to its popularity and success. The SME Exporter of the Month was initiated to recognise, support, and encourage the trade performance of the Dubai-based trading community.
The data for the selection of the recognition is retrieved from Dubai Chamber’s Certificate of Origin database. Each month, the selection is based on one specific criterion including the highest export value as compared to last year’s data, the highest number of markets exported to, the highest number of certificates of origin and the recent start-up company with the highest export value.
