Dubai Chamber participates in the 73rd Worldwide Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan

Complementing the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry-led largest trade mission in its history to Expo Milan 2015 and the subsequent strengthening of relations with the Milan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Dubai Chamber delegation recently participated in EICMA 2015, the 73rd Worldwide Motorcycle Exhibition, on the invitation of Milan Chamber.
The Dubai Chamber delegation, which was led by H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, visited the four-day exhibition participated by 1,400 exhibitors and over 60,000 visitors showcasing products from various industries including automotive, bicycles, rickshaw and spares, electronics and electrical goods and industries. The exhibition marked its current session with the participation of new overseas exhibitors with 60% coming from 44 countries.
On the side lines of the exhibition, H.E. Buamim had a series of meetings with Italian officials, especially with Riccardo Maria Monti, President of the Italian Trade Agency, as he discussed the possibility of attracting the annual motorcycle show to Dubai and to be hosted for first time in the Middle East region.
The President and CEO of Dubai Chamber informed the Italian official that the Chamber was considering hosting of this largest motorcycle exhibition in Dubai which he said is well-known for hosting the popular Dubai International Motor Show which concluded its yet another very successful run recently in the emirate while affirming Dubai’s position as a major centre for global events, exhibitions and conferences.
EICMA, the Worldwide Motorcycling Exhibition, is one of the most prominent annual trade exhibition for motorcycles and accessories, where manufacturers launch premiere models of motorcycles during the heavily-attended exhibition. According to a study by Fredonia Group, Inc., the global demand for motorcycles will rise by 5.9% annually to reach 132.4 million units by 2018, valued at $119.5 billion, as the Asia/Pacific region will remain the dominant market, while the Africa/Mideast region grows the fastest.
H.E. Buamim further informed the President of the Italian Trade Agency about the excellent relationship enjoyed by Dubai and Milan Chambers over the years, and the further strengthening of their ties during the Dubai Chamber-led largest trade mission in its history visiting Expo Milan last month.
Also, during the trade mission visit, the UAE-Italy Business Forum was organised in cooperation with the Milan Chamber of Commerce and Industry with both sides agreeing to work closely to take their ties to the next level.
H.E. Buamim also informed Mr. Monti about the Chamber’s association with the Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing in establishing the Dubai Association Centre whose aim is to provide assistance to professional associations to set up office space and develop their activities and membership in Dubai and beyond.
Besides assuring the Italian official about the Chamber’s support to the exhibition through its vast network of members represented by over 70 business councils and groups coming from all corners of the world, H.E. Buamim also took the opportunity to highlight Dubai’s non-oil trade with Italy which he said amounted to AED 24.2 billion dirhams last year, making the country 16th largest trading partner of the emirate in the presence of 223 Italian companies operating in the emirate.
