Dubai Chamber organises sports league

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising an indoor football and cricket sports league as part of the Dubai Sports World in the Dubai World Trade Center from June 28 to August 3. 

The Football League has 16 teams competing in the tournament. The football tournaments are held weekly on Thursdays and Fridays while eight teams compete in the Cricket League on Fridays. The cricket tournament includes a team from the South African Business Council, which operates under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber. 

The participating eight teams in the Dubai Chamber Indoor Cricket League 2012 are Booz & Co, Choueifat Chargers, Dubai Chamber A, Dubai Chamber B, First Victors, DUPLAYS Warriors, Pinch Hitters and SABC while the football teams are Carpe Diem, Freedom Fighters, JOC Dubai, Nija Boys, Shifra FC, New Team, Transmed, Free Agent Wanderers, Egyptian Legend, El-Mokhtalat, KLK, Mazarita, Super Mario, UOP Honeywell, Serco ME and Free Agent United. 

Mr. Hassan Al Hashemi, Director, External Relations, Dubai Chamber stated that the idea behind Dubai Chamber’s participation in the Dubai World Sports activities is to promote a culture of healthy living in the society and to provide an ideal platform for members of the business community to communicate and foster a long-term professional relationship. 

The Dubai Chamber Sports League is held on the sidelines of the second Dubai Sports World, the Middle East's largest indoor sports event, hosting a number of favourite sports in one pro-standard, air-conditioned arena with grass pitches all throughout the summer months. 

The Dubai Sports World is organised by Dubai World Trade Center, in cooperation with Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment. This event is supported by Roads & Transport Authority, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, DEWA, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Dubai Municipality. The aim of the event is to support the Emirate’s efforts in building a community that encourages health and wellbeing for both residents and visitors to the UAE.
