Dubai Culture Hosts Heritage-Inspired Activities Across Its Assets This Eid Al Etihad
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is presenting a series of exceptional cultural experiences and public activations across its assets in celebration of the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad, held this year under the theme ‘United.’ The initiative supports the #ZayedAndRashid campaign, organised by Brand Dubai for the second consecutive year as part of the 'National Month' celebrations.
Running from 28 November to 3 December across Etihad Museum, Al Safa Art & Design Library, Al Shindagha Museum, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, and Hatta Heritage Village, the programme seeks to narrate the story of the Union, showcase the creativity of local talent, and shed light on the UAE’s authentic customs, traditions, and diversity. These efforts align with Dubai Culture’s commitment to strengthening national identity and reinforcing the presence of Emirati heritage on the global cultural map.
In celebration of the occasion, the Authority has released the song ‘Bu Khalid & Bu Rashid,’ written by poet Hassan AlObaidily, composed by artist Sharifa Ahmed, arranged by Zaid Adel, and performed by the Emirates Chorus. The song pays tribute to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honouring their leadership and accomplishments that have elevated the UAE on the world stage.
Over the course of three days, from 1 to 3 December, Etihad Museum will be illuminated in the colours of the UAE flag, welcoming community members to relive the moment the Union was declared 54 years ago. Visitors can explore a series of innovative stations that blend tradition and modern expression, from artistic and interactive installations rooted in Emirati values to a VR Station offering immersive journeys through the UAE’s most iconic landmarks, future cities, and national achievements in space, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. The festivities will also include hands-on workshops on planting techniques and clay pot decoration, alongside performances by professional groups specialising in Al Harbiya, Al A’yyala, oud music, and other heritage arts.
Al Shindagha Museum, the UAE’s largest heritage museum, will welcome families from 29 November to 3 December during Eid Al Etihad to explore dedicated alleyways featuring creative stops that reflect the richness of Emirati culture. Near the Al Maktoum House, visitors can take part in a wide range of interactive classes led by experts from the Turath Centre for Traditional Handicrafts, including burqa sewing, Al Sadu weaving, Gargoor-making, and silversmithing. The programme also features an apothecary workshop exploring natural ingredients and remedies, a perfume-making session focused on traditional fragrances, as well as Al Talli weaving, and a Fanjan-colouring workshop. These activities will be complemented by folk performances showcasing the beauty of Al Nahmah, Al A’yyala, Al Yowla, and other heritage arts.
On 28 and 29 November, Al Safa Art & Design Library will host ‘Dubai Font Beyond the Canvas,’ organised by Dubai Culture in collaboration with the Emirates Writers Union. Featuring poet Sheikha Al Mutairi, artist Shamsa Al Jasmi, and calligrapher Ali Al Hammadi, and moderated by Safiya Al Shehi, the evening invites guests to examine the artistic and cultural dimensions of Dubai Font and its creative applications. A complementary exhibition will display rare pens and inkwells. Alongside the session, the library will offer musical performances, crafts, drawing sessions, open art spaces, a photography corner, henna, a children’s majlis, and other cultural and entertainment activations. The Creative Market Place will also return, providing local talent and homegrown brands an opportunity to showcase their products inspired by Emirati heritage.
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and Hatta Heritage Village will open their doors on 2 and 3 December for visitors to enjoy a selection of cultural performances organised by Dubai Culture in partnership with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai. Meanwhile, Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children will present on 28 November an engaging programme that includes a ‘Best National Outfit’ competition, interactive falcon experiences, henna art, children’s games, and folkloric performances such as Al Harbiya and Al A’yyala.
