Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has showed its support for Dubai’s people of determination in collaboration with Dubai Center for Special Needs (DSCN), by donating books to the centre’s library through the Dubai Public Library.

The partnership is aligned with the UAE’s Year of Giving 2017 and adopts its three key pillars: social responsibility, collaboration within the private sector, and giving back to the community in a spirit of volunteerism. It also demonstrates Dubai Culture’s support of the government’s directives to make Dubai a friendly city for people of determination, as well as for the ‘My Community...A City for Everyone’ initiative.

Fahad Al Mamari, Director of Dubai Public Library at Dubai Culture, commented: “We at Dubai Culture consider it our duty to enhance the wellbeing of all segments of society, and we are delighted to support people of determination through a variety of programmes and initiatives. We are committed to bringing the vision of our wise leadership to life by launching initiatives that will help transform Dubai into an ideal city for people of determination, where they can enjoy happy, active and productive lives and benefit from programmes that qualify them and fully integrate them into society.”

The partnership between Dubai Public Library and the Dubai Center for Special Needs reflects Dubai Culture’s dedication to spreading knowledge among all segments of the community and reaching individuals across the Emirate.

The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children. Some branches feature multi-purpose halls, classrooms and exhibition spaces, and all branches of the Dubai Public Library are connected via computer systems. This has established close links with other modern libraries, providing access to vast sources of information on a diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
