Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, announced today the launch of the Emirates NBD dnata World MasterCard Credit Card, in partnership with MasterCard and dnata, the leading travel management company in the region.

“Emirates NBD has maintained its market leadership by consistently exceeding and anticipating the changing needs of our customers,” said Suvo Sarkar, General Manager, Retail Banking, Emirates NBD. “Our research shows that with increased competition in the aviation industry, consumers now have a wider choice of airlines, and are becoming increasingly spontaneous in their purchases. The Emirates NBD dnata World MasterCard Credit Card gives cardholders the freedom to go where they want, when they want, and breaks them from the limitations of choosing one loyalty program over another.”

With the option of redeeming Reward points on over 130 airlines, stays at thousands of luxury hotels, packages on cruise liners etc., the new Emirates NBD Dnata World MasterCard Credit Card offers unparalleled flexibility. It is the only travel reward product in the UAE that guarantees cardholders a 15 per cent reward on all purchases at dnata Travel, and the first of its kind credit card in the UAE that does not charge foreign currency transaction fee on overseas transactions. The card also leverages the strong Bon Appetit dining program offering discounts at over 600 restaurants within the UAE.

“As a customer-focused travel brand, we pride ourselves in developing travel solutions that suit their exact needs,” said Iain Andrew, Divisional Senior Vice President, dnata. “The new card is an extension of the dnata Emirates NBD Platinum credit card, which was launched with great success in 2010, so we know our customers will appreciate the new 15% rewards they can earn when they turn to dnata for their travel plans.”

The card also comes with exclusive privileges such as complimentary access to over 50 Airport lounges worldwide, airport transfers and concierge services, in addition to exclusive benefits the MasterCard World platform offers to cardholders. These include access to premium entertainment, boutique labels, and gourmet dining experiences across the world.

“MasterCard and Emirates NBD have collaborated on many occasions in the past to introduce highly innovative payment solutions for consumers in the UAE, and we are pleased to once again join forces with Emirates NBD and dnata to introduce a unique card that rewards travel-savvy consumers in the UAE,” said Eyad Al-Kourdi, Vice President and Country Manager, UAE, MasterCard Worldwide. “MasterCard is committed to introduce world-class payment solutions, and the launch of the Emirates NBD dnata World MasterCard Credit Card is yet another example of the outstanding travel rewards that MasterCard offers to its cardholders.”

Background Information

Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.
