Empower Connects Bluewaters With 25,000 Tons of District Cooling

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has connected its network to Bluewaters, a mixed-use project developed by Meraas, in record time.
Empower has signed, in October 2015, a contract to provide district cooling services to the prestigious Bluewaters, a modern, family-oriented island destination with a pioneering spirit that blends waterfront living with the exhilaration of urban city life.
As per the contract, Empower will provide the buildings at the developments with 25,000 RT of district cooling services to chill its residential units, retail stores, commercial buildings and hotels.
“We’re glad that Bluewaters is connected to our network in time. We’ve deployed advanced technology and are confident that Empower plants will offer the development optimal savings of around 50 per cent on energy,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
The island is located off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence, featuring Ain Dubai, reportedly the world’s largest observation wheel, two hotels, and distinctive retail, residential, hospitality and entertainment zones.
“Being connected to Bluewaters is a key milestone for Empower. It not only adds value to our list of prestigious clients, but also helps us support the country’s vision to a sustainable development planned as per the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. We’re pleased that our partnership with Meraas will drive us a step closer to achieving this vision,” added Ahmad Bin Shafar.
Empower’s cost-efficient, energy saving cooling solutions will provide substantial savings to the individuals residing at Bluewaters. The company’s environmentally friendly solutions will not only serve as a valuable resource to the community, but also guarantee reliable, clean and cost efficient power.
“Energy-efficiency is one of the key components of Empower’s solutions and we’re proud to support Bluewaters and other mega projects in the country with our highest international quality services. As we advance into a new phase of growth, expanding our reach to varied locations, energy-efficiency and cost-savings will be our key value propositions for our sustained growth,” concluded Ahmad Bin Shafar.
